What it is

A hydrating broad spectrum SPF 30 moisturizer to protect skin.

What it does

Provides protection for an active, outdoor lifestyle and prolonged sun exposure protection. This sun-smart technology is a dominant defense against the UVA and UVB rays that can cause early skin aging. Lightweight and hydrating, it protects without adding shine.

How to use it

  • Apply liberally 15 minutes before sun exposure
  • Use a water resistant sunscreen if swimming or sweating
  • Reapply at least every 2 hours
  • Children under 6 months: Ask a doctor
  • Sun Protection Measures. Spending time in the sun increases your risk of skin cancer and early skin aging. To decrease this risk, regularly use a sunscreen with a broad spectrum SPF of 15 or higher and other sun protection measures including:
    • Limit time in the sun, especially from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
    • Wear long-sleeve shirts, pants, hats, and sunglasses
APPLICATION TIP: Tilt the tube at an angle and gently squeeze product into hands, then apply.

Broad spectrum sunscreens protect skin from both UVA and UVB rays. UVB rays are responsible for sunburns. UVA rays can penetrate deeper into the skin, causing premature aging. Both UVB and UVA rays can cause skin cancer.

A sunscreen’s SPF number indicates its amount of protection from UVB rays. By choosing a broad spectrum sunscreen, you’ll know you are protecting your skin from the risk of early skin aging and skin cancer.

It's quite thick, a little goes a long way. Great sun protection. I wear it every day.

Fabulous defense

bright starbright starbright starbright starbright star
I purchased this on a recommendation from a friend, I absolutely love it. It has little to no odor and feels like a traditional sunscreen. At first it seemed a bit greasy, but I put it on and let it soak in for about 5 minutes and it's fine. THEN put on my make up and it's great. Overall a great product and I love the SPF 30! I typically have normal but sensitive skin, several sunscreens irritate my face, but I've had no problems at all with Ray Defense!

Great moisturizer

I usually hesitate when using a moisturizer with SPF since some can be so heavy. I really like this one however. It smells a little like SPF in the bottle but goes on odor free. Covers nicely and doesn't leave my skin feeling like it has an SPF on it. I have combo skin and do not see any extra oil production because of this.

Excellent for dry skin in winter

bright starbright starbright starbright stardull star
We all know we are supposed to where sunscreen year round--and this is a great one to use, especially in winter. I use this in addition to my other bioelement moisturizers and it leaves my skin still moist and ready for makeup or to start my day. In summer, I sometimes find this a little heavy if it's really humid, but, still quite nice for 30spf face product.

So Extremely Greasy

bright starbright starbright stardull stardull star
I initially like this because it looked nice on my skin and has a good amount of SPF. But oh my word, is this greasy. I started noticing my makeup wouldn't go on top of it, it would slide all over and flake up--most annoying thing when I'm trying to get ready quickly with a toddler. I also started noticing my hair getting all greasy. After a couple uses it dawned on me how GREASY it is. Honestly, I use an amount smaller than a dime. Rub it in very well. Let it absorb. And even over an hour later--you know those little blotting sheets that absorb oil? I can soak through THREE of them. Soaked. And this is after the product absorbs. Really ridiculous! I adore most bioelements and use a lot of their products but this one won't be refilled

Hi Andrea,
Let me just say that I have an oily skin type and I wear this product every day as my daily moisturizer/sunscreen. If you feel it makes your skin greasy, you can apply our Oil Control Mattifier underneath and then apply your RayDefense. Another makeup artist trick I can share with you is to blot your skin with a tissue to "set" the sunscreen before you apply your makeup. You can also spot treat your skin later on in the day with Oil Control Mattifier and it won't ruin your makeup. Why not give it a try? Email me directly at teresa@bioelements.com if you would like to chat further, but this should do the trick.
