How does Bioelements test RayDefense?

This formula is tested in the following ways:

Independent Evaluation of Sun Protection By SPF Determination (FDA)- This is to determine the SPF of the formula. It is a test on human subjects of various Fitzpatrick types, wherein the product is applied to an area of the skin and exposed several times to UV light and then their skin is analyzed and recorded. The subjects come back again the next day and are analyzed again.

Independent FDA In-vitro Broad Spectrum Test
- This is to test the formula to make sure it meets the "broad spectrum" requirement. Its an in-vitro test which means it takes place on a plate. The formula is applied to the plate and exposed to a UV dose and it measures for mean critical wavelength.

Independent Ingredient Testing - We cite independent clinical evaluations, and clinical in-vitro (within a controlled environment/lab), and in-vivo (human) testing to validate the claims of ingredients. These tests are not conducted or commissioned by Bioelements – they are provided to us by the ingredient source.

RIPT, Dermatologist Tests for Safety + Efficacy - We follow strict formula quality control via stability and clinical testing to ensure effectiveness and optimum performance. Tests include human repeat patch tests (RIPT), microbial change, pH testing, viscosity, plus visual, odor and tactile integrity. We also conduct dermatologist testing.

We never test on animals.
