After the launch of Bioelements NEW Ultra-Detox Chemical Peels, we began receiving questions from skin care professionals across the country – How long will it take to see results? Can I perform extractions? Here are the 6 most-asked questions we've been asked, along with their (sometimes surprising) answers:
Q: How long will it take for my client to see results?
A: Short Term: Your client will see immediate results – an instant, healthy glow and softer skin. Long Term: With regular treatments, and the appropriate pre- and post-peel at home care, your client will continue to see dramatic results – softer, smoother skin with a more even-toned, clear complexion.
Q: How often can a client repeat a series of treatments?
A: Typically, a series of treatments is done on a weekly or bi-weekly basis, and lasts for 6 treatments. Depending on your client's skin care concerns, a series of treatments can be repeated up to 3-4 times a year.
Q: If my client has acne, can I perform a peel using Glycolic Detox Charcoal Peel Level 2 or 3?
A: It depends on the type of acne your client has. For more inflamed acne (papules/pustules), we recommend you use Lactic-Plus Peel Level 1. If your client has more comedonal acne, then you can use either Glycolic Detox Charcoal Peel Level 2 or 3.
Q: If my client is not experiencing any tingling during the chemical peel application, is it necessary to glide the brush over the skin the entire time the peel is on the skin?
A: Yes. We are not doing this just to ease tingling sensations. It's also to ensure the peel is applied evenly over the face. Plus it also feels good for the client, contributing to the overall spa experience a client expects – even when getting a peel!
Q: Can I perform extractions during the Ultra-Detox Chemical Peel?
A: It depends on the client. The focus of this treatment must be the peel, and how the skin responds to the peel on the day of treatment. These peels are powerful, so you need to watch the skin to ensure it does not become too touch sensitive for extractions. However, if the skin is responding well, and you see a couple of open comedones that are ready to come off, then proceed with light pressure. If the breakouts are more numerous, or inflamed, then perhaps they would benefit more from you booking them for the Bioelements Acne Clearing Facial for their next treatment.
Q: Is it necessary for clients to use the products recommended for pre- and post-peel care if they are already using other Bioelements products?
A: Yes. It's best if they use the recommended products for the entire duration of the Progressive Peel Series. It will be up to you as the esthetician to determine when they can resume their regular Bioelements at home care routine.
