5 Reasons You'll See Results From Under Eye Exfoliation

Between squinting, tugging, sun damage, genetics and so much more, there's no limit to the number of things that want to age the delicate skin around your eyes. Crow's feet causes alone are numerous and that is only one of many under eye skin concerns - but how do you find a serious solution for skin that's as thin as an eggshell? The answer might surprise you.

Despite being the thinnest on your body, the skin surrounding your eyes can benefit from a lot of the same anti-aging techniques the rest of your skin can. But while many of us believe moisturizing creams, 'de-puffing' products, and concealers are the way to correct our eye area concerns, under eye exfoliation provides the most dramatic and immediate results. The key is to use an exfoliator that is designed specifically for the fragile skin under your eyes, like Bioelements Quick Refiner for Eyes.

Here are our top 5 reasons to add this unexpected eye area exfoliator, to your weekly agenda:

it stimulates cell turnover

If you want to know how to get rid of crow's feet, stimulating cell turnover is crucial. Perform under eye exfoliation to renew and regenerate skin at an accelerated rate, and see a smoother, brighter eye area.

it targets milia

Milia, small, hard, white bumps, often crop up on the skin under your eyes. These frustrating bumps are harmless, but can last for weeks, months and even years. Milia occur when dead skin and keratin become trapped under the skin's surface, forming tiny cysts. While they are unsightly, they shouldn't cause any pain – if you experience pain, go to a dermatologist.

Thankfully, under eye exfoliation won't just wake your eyes up; it will help eliminate stubborn milia as well!

Some people experience milia in other areas of their face, not just under their under eye area. If this is the case, tackle stubborn milia with Bioelements Quick Refiner.

it boosts your product power

If you don't exfoliate your under eye area, dead and dulling skin cells will build up leading to rough, scaly skin that doesn't absorb product easily. This renders any anti-aging eye creams useless. Under eye exfoliation is a must if you want the best results from your other products.

Removing the surface layer of dead skin allows the active ingredients in the products you apply later to work harder. If you thought your anti-aging eye cream worked well before, just wait until you exfoliate beforehand!

it eliminates fine lines

If you let the dead skin cells build up, this not only blocks the absorption of other products, but it emphasizes and even worsens fine lines and crow's feet.

Exfoliate dry skin around eyes before applying a hydrating eye cream to allow skin to absorb moisture more efficiently, plump skin and minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Under eye exfoliation can also help prevent them from worsening.

it's a makeup routine essential

Ever wondered what the trick is to crease-free concealer? Properly exfoliating and moisturizing will create the perfect canvas for your concealer. With smoothed skin, free of excess dead skin cells, concealer will apply effortlessly and evenly to last all day. Who knows – you might not even need concealer with the right skin care routine!

Learn more about our tips and tricks for perfect concealer application.

So now you're wondering, "Does this mean I can just grab any exfoliator from my countertop and get to work?" No! Here's why:

separate tasks, separate products

You wouldn't use a scented hand lotion on your face, so why would you apply an exfoliant formulated for the thicker skin on your face to the delicate skin surrounding your eyes? Separate tasks require separate products. To prevent overstimulation and irritation, the exfoliant you use around your eyes needs to be specifically formulated to be gentle but effective.

the eye exfoliant you need

Bioelements Quick Refiner for Eyes is an ophthalmologist tested eye area peel with built-in buffers and soothers to keep fragile skin surrounding your eyes calm. Linked papain enzymes, lactic acid, and multifruit acids have different molecular sizes to penetrate the skin at varying cellular levels and at different rates to discourage irritation while they eliminate dead skin cells. This means you will see results in just one use. Meanwhile, smoothers and soothers like aloe vera, allantoin, and green tea comfort and strengthen to keep even the most delicate, sensitive skin comfortable.

Hi @Karen, this should absolutely help boost brightness under your eyes.

Does this also help for dark circles? I am African American and the circles under my eyes seem to be getting worse no matter what type of under eye cream I use.

Bioelements products are safe for pregnant women. However, as every pregnancy is different, it’s always best to consult with your physician. Sometimes your skin can become more sensitive, more dehydrated and even experience breakouts during pregnancy, so we recommend that you treat your skin gently.

You can use Quick Refiner for Eyes alone or with an eye creme, like Multi-Task Eye Creme. Quick Refiner for Eyes exfoliates, hydrates, soothes and strengthens under eye skin, while Multi-Task Eye Creme works to brighten, target puffiness and ease the look of crows feet.

This is a question only your physician can answer. Bring them the list of ingredients used in Quick Refiner for Eyes found on this page:https://www.bioelements.com/quick-refiner-for-eyes-products-1173.php?page_id=150#.WNrO6G8rKUl

Hi, I have syringomas under my eyes and was wondering if this was safe to use and if it will help smooth down the texture of the bumps.

Hi Bianca, I would not put Quick Refiner on your eyelids, but dab on the orbital bone of your eye all the way around. The heat and the warmth of your eye will draw the product inward. But, for anything on the eyelid, whether it’s milia, a cherry angioma or anything else suspicious, I recommend you see a derm to have it removed. The skin on the eyelid is just much to thin to take a chance, in my professional opinion. But, for the ones underneath your eye, this product should help over time. It’s also important to wear a day eye crème and night crème to help soften the tissue and stimulate the capillary movement. Multi-Task Eye Crème and Sleepwear for Eyes are great. Or, if you are sensitive, Calmitude Delicate Skin Eye Gel.

Hello! I have very small milia (1mm in size) underneath my eyes and on my eyelids. Is this product safe to use on my eyelids

Hi Nena, Quick Refiner for Eyes is a product that you should continue to use- 2-3 times a week, nightly. It’s important, as the skin’s cell turnover is important for healthy, younger looking skin. And the skin around the eyes is no exception. You should always wear sunglasses during the day to protect your skin from the sun’s UV rays. Even on a cloudy day, 80% of the sun’s rays penetrate. It’s a good idea to always wear them when outside. As for moisturizer on top, at night I suggest you apply our Sleepwear for Eyes or Calmitude Delicate Skin Eye Gel if your eye area is very sensitive. IT’s important to wear an eye crème at night after exfoliation. The skin is well-primed to absorb the key anti-aging ingredients that you will be applying afterwards. And as you sleep, the skin is working harder to self heal and self-regenerate. A Broad spectrum sunscreen be worn during the day, and every day, rain or shine.

for how long should i use it ?nAnd does the exfoliating noticeable so i have to wear sunglasses ? or it’s ok to use a sunscreen only

Hi Vicki,nnI think the culprit here is that you are not currently wearing a moisturizer designed specifically for your eyes. This can lead to dryness, dark circles and irritation. It would be like not moisturizing your face, only cleansing. Your skin would feel dry and become more sensitive. I professionally recommend that you add our Calmitude Delicate Skin Eye Gel. this Ophthalmologist-tested formula will smooth out skin texture, target dark circles and increase the feel of firmness. I bet that after using it for a week, morning and night, you could resume your Quick Refiner for Eye exfoliation use as before, and this time notice a real difference- because your skin will be stronger and healthier. It will look and feel brighter, fresh and smooth.

Teresa, The lady who does my facials suggested this product for my “aging” eyes (I’m 60). I use it 3 times/week and apply it only under my eyes. I do not use any other eye cream. Since I never really noticed my fine lines and wrinkles, guess I was expecting dramatic results. Due to the burning, which lasts about 5 minutes, I’m going to stop using the product. I have dry skin and use a daily facial moisturizer, but do not put any creams around my eyes. Ideally, I would like a product that helps with dark circles and dryness in the eye area. Thank you.

Hi Vicki, Thank you for coming to us with this. I have a few questions for you to try and determine why this might be occurring. How many nights a week are you using Quick Refiner for Eyes? Where are you applying it and are you applying any other eye crèmes on top before you go to bed?

Vicki

I’ve been using this product for 6 weeks and see no difference in my eyes. I apply it at night and wash it off with my morning routine, am I supposed to do something different? I am shocked at how much it burns my skin.

Hi Cynthia,nSince this is a skin disorder, we can’t claim that this or any other product helps treat sebaceous hyperplasia. I do believe that keeping your pores clean and following a complete At Home Agenda designed for a very oily skin type will help, but it might be best to check with a dermatologist if there is any concern. We have other products, such as our Quick Refiner, that might help, but again, it’s up to the physician to let you know if there are any contraindications to a particular product or formula, since every skin is different.

Hi Victoria – We have a few different options for the rest of your face when milia is an issue. A purging mask like Kerafole is a great way to rev-up the microcirculation of the skin, detoxify, exfoliate and hydrate at the same time. Applied one a day It work wonders! Another option is a leave-on chemical exfoliator like Quick Refiner. It can be applied nightly to the skin underneath your night creme or gel to help soften pesky milia.nnAlso, getting regular professional facials at a spa near you that carries Bioelements would allow the esthetician to apply stronger, higher activity exfoliants and peels to help rid your skin of milia once and for all.

You had mentioned that this product also helps in the aid of Milia. If Milia is present in other areas of the face, can this product be used, or would your recommend another one to get rid of the keratin build up under the skin?

Hi Laura – Quick Refiner for Eyes is opthalmologist approved for use under the eye area: where you’d experience fine lines, crows feet and dryness.

Do you use the Quick Refiner all over your eyes – between brow and eye, on upper eyelid, over undereye area near nose and temple or just under the eye toward temple to treat crows feet?

Omg! I need to try this! I’m an Esthetician and I religiously make sure my skin routine is on point. BUT I noticed fine lines setting in around my eyes. I will not only love this but my clients will as well!
