Facials for wrinkles: Do you need one?

Facials for wrinkles: Do you need one?

Want to prevent your skin from aging? Facials for wrinkles are the best way to slow down aging skin and even reverse some existing fine lines and wrinkles. Keep reading to see how to remove wrinkles from the forehead, around the eyes, and more with a professional spa facial.

How do professional facials help wrinkles and other signs of aging?

There are many professional products, techniques and equipment your esthetician will use to help minimize or even eliminate wrinkles and other signs of aging such as redness, rough skin texture, hyperpigmentation, wrinkles, and sagging.

"These results are achieved by progressively causing the skin to react to stimuli that helps it to perform the way it did when it was younger. This action helps improve the appearance and in may cases reverse damage caused by both internal and external causes of skin aging." –Teresa Stenzel, Bioelements Director of Education

A Bioelements Custom Blend Facial is designed to target your exact skin concerns every visit. The goal of the facial as a whole is to put your skin through its paces, giving it a progressive workout from start to finish. A good facial will stimulate your circulatory and lymphatic system, muscles and nerves to strengthen your skin and tackle your concerns. You'll emerge with brighter, clearer and younger looking skin.

Facials for wrinkles: Step by Step

An experienced Bioelements esthetician will customize every step of your Custom Blend Facial to tackle aging. Here's what to expect:

1) Cleanse step

Before the cleanse portion of the facial, your esthetician will ask you multiple in depth questions and take a close look at your skin under a magnifying glass. This will help them determine your true skin type and choose the appropriate cleanser to remove dirt, debris, toxins and more.

For example, if you have dry skin that emphasizes your wrinkles, your esthetician will choose a creamy, hydrating cleanser to remove debris without over drying the skin.

For aging skin, a gentle physical or chemical exfoliant is added to the cleanser. This removes dead skin cells, revs up circulation, lymph and nerve endings, which all work together to make the skin more permeable and receptive to later steps.

2) Exfoliation step

When wrinkles and aging are your main concerns, a chemical exfoliant is used to delve deeper into the skin's layers. This will immediately make the skin softer and smoother, diminishing fine lines and making wrinkles less noticeable.

The exfoliation step is the most crucial element of facials for wrinkles because dead skin cells and other cellular debris can worsen wrinkles or make them look more pronounced.

3) Custom Blend Massage step

This specialized massage is geared towards the goal to calm or strengthen the underlying muscles, depending on the area of the face or neck your esthetician is targeting. For example, if you furrow your brow a lot and wrinkles are beginning to form there, your esthetician will want to relax those muscles. If you notice your jaw or neckline starting to sag, your esthetician will want to stimulate those muscles using a Signature Technique like the one below:

This will help tighten the skin on your neck while relieving tension in your neck and upper shoulders.

4) Power Treatment step

In the event of aging skin, this step would utilize highly concentrated Custom Blend Additive called Anti-Aging Active. It contains peptides, amino acids, and stimulating aromatherapy, which are penetrated into the skin using a Bioelements Signature Technique. This additive helps improve surface lines and wrinkles and poor elasticity.

5) Power Mask step

This mask is applied directly on top of the Power Treatment and can also be customized. Your esthetician can choose a Power Mask that is hydrating, firming, detoxifying or a mask that is skin softening and smoothing based on what specific age signs you are worried about.

The Power Mask will tackle lines, wrinkles, dull skin, aging skin and poor elasticity in addition to driving your Power Treatment deeper into the skin.

"For maximum benefit, the facial can be performed as a treatment series, which can be done every week or every other week depending on the sensitivity level of the skin." –Teresa Stenzel, Bioelements Director of Education

What to expect after your facial

You can expect to leave the spa with skin that is visibly smoother, softer and more hydrated – lending to a more youthful complexion. Your esthetician will also recommend which products to use at home, so you can maintain and extend the post-facial results you see.
