Every daily skin care routine should look like this

Every daily skin care routine should look like this

While there are many different ways to achieve beautiful skin, there are some essential steps everyone should follow, regardless of skin type and concern. Learn the basic steps to any good daily skin care routine:

Step 1: Cleanse

Every daily skin care routine should start with cleansing, no matter what. There are plenty of myths floating around that say it's ok to skip cleansing your face or just rinse it with water, but that can be detrimental to your complexion. Do you rinse your teeth with water and expect them to be cavity-free? The same is true of your skin – water alone won't help.

The key to this step, and any of the daily skin care routine steps, is to choose the correct product for your skin type.

Do you have dry skin? Choose a creamy cleanser that gently washes away impurities without over drying the skin, like Moisture Positive Cleanser. Not sure what your skin type is?Identify your skin type here

Step 2: Tone

Yes, you need a toner no matter what your skin type is. Going without toner is like skipping hair conditioner – it can leave skin vulnerable to dehydrating, damaging elements. Toner helps rebalance your skin's pH levels after cleansing and preps your skin to be better able to absorb the active ingredients in the next products you apply.

Want to revitalize skin and give yourself youthful radiance? SpritzPower Peptide onto just cleansed skin to boost moisture and brighten skin tone for a younger-looking appearance.

Step 3: Exfoliate

Without exfoliation, skin tends to appear dull and rough. Boost microcirculation and cell turnover by exfoliating 1-3 times per week to transform dull skin into bright, healthy, and radiant skin.

Target pores, dullness and lines in as little as one day with our favorite chemical exfoliator,Quick Refiner.

Step 4: Apply a targeted treatment

This is the step that most daily skin care routines are probably missing and can be the difference between good skin and great skin.

Skin serums and treatment cremes allow you to customize your daily routine to the highest level. Crows feet? There's a serum for that. Dark spots on your face? Here's the solution. Sagging skin? There's an easy fix.

Step 5: Moisturize and protect

Any basic skin care routine should include a moisturizing broad spectrum sunscreen during the day and a hydrating moisturizer at night.

Two thirds of all sun damage is incidental*. That means the sun is damaging your skin every day when you run errands, commute to work, and more. Always apply a moisturizing broad spectrum sunscreen in the AM no matter what.

It's important to moisturize at night as well. Almost everyone's skin is dehydrated more often than not – even oily skin! Dehydration can lead to a whole slew of problems including dry, flaky skin, excess oily production, wrinkles, sensitivity and more.

Want a lightweight moisturizer? UseRemineralist Daily Moisturizer to both hydrate AND protect against skin-aging pollution. Layer on SPF if you apply in the morning to stay safe from the sun.

Hi Betty, thanks for contacting us! First, I professionally recommend you take advantage of our Starter Kit, Great Skin in a Box for Dry Skin. This will give you the essential products you need to cleanse, tone, moisturize and exfoliate your skin type. Then, I would add our LightPlex GigaWatt Dark Spot Corrector, which will target your UV damage from past fun in the sun. I also recommend our SPF 50 FaceScreen as your daily anti-aging moisturizer. At night, you should apply Plump Start and Sleepwear, which will target your sagging, and lines/wrinkles. If you would like to email me directly, I can give you more information on how to care for your skin, but this is how I would do it. Cleanse (Moisture Positive Cleanser), Tone, (Power Peptide), Targeted Treatment: Plump Start and then your Overnight Age Activist crème (Sleepwear). Every morning, Cleanse, Tone, and then apply LightPlex GigaWatt Dark Spot Corrector to your spots, and then Crucial Moisture and finish with SPF 50 FaceScreen.
