Natural skin care ingredients & dyes: What you need to know

0

Here at Bioelements we believe in clean beauty. That is why we utilize the best of science and nature to give you high quality, effective skin care – no hype, no gimmicks, no false claims. Sometimes using the very best of nature means slight variances from batch to batch. Keep reading to learn why we avoid artificial dyes and why our products can vary in color.

Artificial fragrances and dyes

You might look at a brightly colored cleanser or a glittery lotion and think it could be a pretty addition to your daily routine. But do you really think a brightly colored cream is going to be more effective than a product made without dye? Artificial dyes serve no purpose, and they’re a skin irritation risk you shouldn’t take.

Clean beauty is important to us and it should be important to you too. Always opt for professional skin care free of synthetic fragrances, ‘parfum’, artificial dyes, parabens, phthalates or DEA.

Every single ingredient in a Bioelements formula serves a purpose and has a direct benefit to the skin. We use a combination of clinical and natural skin care ingredients to ensure every product tackles your skin concerns. Everything, down to the color of each product, is designed to benefit your skin.

Why our products vary in color

Have you ever purchased your favorite Bioelements product, only to realize that it’s a slightly different color than the last one you used? Don’t fret! This is completely normal.

Color variances are common with clean beauty products and mean we use quality, natural ingredients, instead of cheap (and potentially harmful) fake dyes.

“Think of tomatoes on the same vine. They are completely natural and healthy, but they aren’t all the exact same color. Since we use ingredients from nature, the colors can vary in hue, saturation and depth depending on different factors.” –Teresa Stenzel, Bioelements Director of Education

The natural skin care ingredients used in our products can vary in color based on where the ingredient was grown, the soil, the weather, along with many different factors. Products varying in color doesn’t mean they’ve gone “bad” or that the formula has changed – nature just varies.

Where our colors come from

Our products get their color from many different natural skin care ingredients. Each ingredient serves a purpose and is directly beneficial to your skin. Here are a few of our favorites:

Remineralist Daily Moisture:

This lightweight lotion gets its oceanic blue hue from the copper-rich mineral malachite, which helps detoxify and defend your skin against environmental stressors that cause lines, irritation and aging.

Plump Start:

Our favorite skin plumping concentrate gets its speckled pinkish hue from three different Australian wild plums. The extract from these plums scavenges skin-aging free radicals and surges skin with moisture for youthful, plump skin.

Power Peptide:

This age-fighting toner gets its color from a unique blend of essential oils, peptides and botanicals. This blend of ingredients refreshes skin and helps smooth lines and wrinkles for a revitalized and younger-looking complexion.

Even formulas that are white or “colorless” can vary. For example, the hue of Sleepwear can range from snow white to off-white, thanks to natural skin care ingredients like jojoba oil.
