Clogged Pores/Enlarged Pores

Why do I have clogged or enlarged pores?

Clogged pores are follicles that are filled with sebum (oil) and debris. As the pore “fills up,” it stretches, making it appear larger. Clogged and enlarged pores are often due to improper cleansing, excess oil, or not exfoliating enough.

These enlarged pores most often appear in those with Oily skin, but the truth is they can occur in any skin type. And while you can't do anything to shrink the actual size of your pores, you can make them appear smaller with the right skin care products and habits.

Why do I have clogged or enlarged pores?

Treat clogged or enlarged pores: Cleanse

Deep daily cleansing will rid skin of the makeup, oils and debris that can fill up pores and make them appear larger.

A mild exfoliating cleanser like Flash Foam Cleanser will help instantly dissolve dirt, and dead cells, leaving skin fresh, bright and free of the impurities that can get trapped in pores.

Treat clogged or enlarged pores: Exfoliate

Your skin naturally sheds dead cells that can clog pores, but as skin ages, this natural exfoliation process of cell turnover slows down. That makes your pores look large and clogged. Exfoliation ensures dead cells are swept away, revealing smoother skin with more refined pores.

Use a chemical exfoliator like Quick Refiner, or physical exfoliators like Pumice Peel or Measured Micrograins.

Treat clogged or enlarged pores: Draw out impurities

A targeted mask treatment will draw out clogging impurities, and make big pores look smaller, as it tones and revitalizes. Think of these treatments like a vacuum, pulling up the oil, dirt and debris that’s stretching and filling your pores, allowing them to return to normal.

Use Restorative Clay, which has a pore-drawing active clay base; Kerafole®, which has a deep purging, tingling action; or Amino Mask®, which targets the pores of skin that’s experiencing breakouts.
