Bioelements Quick Refiner: Gentle, Effective Results Fast

June 20, 2011

Do the words “chemical,” “exfoliant,” and “refiner” make you feel uneasy? For a long time I thought my skin couldn’t handle an exfoliant in my skin care routine because I have combination skin that can be somewhat sensitive. Though I was a skeptic, I gave the Bioelements Quick Refiner liquid gel exfoliant a try and was surprised with the positive, pain-free results.

I first learned that the Bioelements Quick Refiner uses Alphablend, Bioelements’ exclusive blend of multifruit acids (like orange and lemon enzymes) that gently exfoliate by dissolving dead surface skin cells. Unlike some exfoliating cleansers, for example, the Refiner penetrates the upper layers of skin for a more thorough removal of dead cells.

Other ingredients include aloe vera gel, ginseng, gotu kola and dong quai Chinese herbs. Right from the beginning, I loved the consistency of the Refiner; it’s a liquid gel that’s light and easy to use. It’s fast absorbing and not at all oily. Since I started using the refiner, I’ve noticed a more balanced complexion and tone and smoother, softer skin. The refiner does have cooling properties when you first apply it and I’ve noticed that initially my skin feels a little tight. However, after just a moment or two my skin feels just like normal. If this is the case for you, consider following with a moisturizer.

Also, Bioelements cautions about stinging or irritation, especially in conjunction with sun exposure, and although I have somewhat sensitive skin, I haven’t noticed any problems with sensitivity. The refiner is also used to reduce clogged pores, which, you may remember from my facial review, is a problem area for me, and reduce fine lines and wrinkles. Though I’m not as concerned with wrinkles yet, I don’t mind reaping the anti-aging benefits on the side!

In addition to using the refiner on my face once a day after cleansing my skin, I’ve started applying the gel to my upper arms. For a long time I’ve struggled with bumpy, reddened skin on the backs of my upper arms, but since using the Quick Refiner, that has greatly decreased.
